Heres the old one... It was built in a day, just to house the birds... Not good enough for winter..:

And the new one. So far, I have less than $100.00 in materials. I found a deal on craigslist on some scrap lumber:

It is based from a kit home depot sells,... but I did not have $2500.00 to buy theirs... so I copied it. I still have a long way to go on it,... but not bad for 2 days work. Best of all, its built with 90% recycled materials.

Put an ad on craigslist in the wanted section for free scrap lumber. I had a guy call me that works at a sign company. They had a ton of crates out back he said I could have. They were made with 1x4's, 2x4's, and plywood. I had to tear them apart to move them, but it was well worth the time. He also told me anytime I need stuff like that, call him because they get a lot of the crates, and hate to throw them away. I did however have to spend $75 for the siding, and $20.00 for shingles,... but the rest of it is 100% recycled.

Inside dimensions on the main coop are 8' wide, and 6' deep. The porch is another 3', so it sits on a pad that is 9'x8'. It is tall enough for me to stand up in. The peak of the roof is about 8.5' up. I am going to build a "loft" so to speak for the roost, with the nestboxes under it.
