My lil' peepers have outgrown their brooder (it was 18"X24" for six chicks). I built them a larger one (3'X4'), boy are they having fun! They are running all over, flying, and chirping like crazy. I lined the lower section to control the chips from flying out. Besides it gives them something to read!

They actualy leave it alone other than minor pecking. Another nice thing about using the chicken wire, I purposely left it a tad lose and the cats don't like to climb/stand/lean on it because it moves under their feet.

They are quite curious and camera friendly. They come runnin' when I open up the booder. I give them some treats by hand and they jump right on to see what I have. I knew I'd enjoy them, but I had no idea how attached I was going to get so quickly!

Congrats on the babies, and I don't think anyone expects to get attached to chickens. I rescued my little roo and had intended on putting him out with the other chicks when he was eating dry food on his own but I just couldn't do it! 3 days I had this baby and I just couldn't do it, so now he lives in a large bird cage and goes to the beach with me.
