Hi all,
This week my husband and I made some enclosure updates as we prepare for our flocks first upcoming winter.
We just finished treating all 3 gals for bumble foot all week (minor cases caught early) so they were in our garage hospital ward for a bit.
Since our enclosure became a mud pit thanks to weeks of heavy rain-We added a layer of sand followed by 2” of pea gravel to eliminate the mud and help with drainage. (Photo of after we finished laying all the gravel :) ).
We’re also installing better support posts to put up our new half - roof this week.

I’m hoping the gravel works better than what we had, as the stagnant mud was hard to clean and I think caused the bumble outbreak. We added a layer of chopped wheat straw over the half by their house for comfort, but are keeping the “un-roofed” pool half gravel only for better moisture control.

Any other enclosure tips and tricks for winter in zone 6B?
