New duckling Mom

Hi, I have 1 week old black ducklings. Everything I have read so far is right on! They are really cute and very messy. I have them in a small co-op in my pirc h so I can leave a light on them at night. How long do they need the light?

They don't need light. They sleep at night when it's dark.

Oh, thanks for the info! Don't they need the heat lamp at night though when the temp drops into the 70's?

I am getting ducks! I was getting them around July 17, but then decided to wait until September so i could go on vacation during the rest of July and August. I am getting two Pekins. Good luck!

My duckies love chopped up green beans and zuchinni. I sprinkle a little brewers yeast on it and they lose their minds!

The Brewers Yeast is a nice touch, it provides some niacin. Ducklings often develop niacin deficences which can cause leg problems etc. You may also want to post on the 'Duck thread," because this is the extent of my duck knowledge.
