Imentioned it in my chat thread and did get advice from somewhere there, but I would like to hear of any other options I may have available. Please help.
1) What type of bird , age and weight (does the chicken seem or feel lighter or thinner than the others.)
She is a brown khaki campbell, only a few days old, dont know her weight.
2) What is the behavior, exactly.
At first it was just the clicking while breathing that I heard when she was close to my ear, but then I looked at her closely and saw that she was breathing with her whole body and had a head bib. She could, and still can stand and move around, been keeping an eye on her.
3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms?
About half a day or so
4) Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms?
It may be possible, to early to tell.
5) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.
No injury.
6) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation.
This duckling was born a full week later then her siblings. She tried to hatch out of two ends of her egg since a hole opened where her knee pushed, and had difficulty getting out. She actually pipped through the end that didnt have the air bubble, thats where her knee poked through instead. I had to help her by covering up the hole where her leg was as best I could. She came out and had more difficulty learning to walk then the others, but after the night, she was walking and running just like the others.
7) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all.
She has not stopped drinking yet but havent seen her eat. I did sprinkle the chick crumble in her water since thats worked with our chicks before.
8) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc.
Her poo is clear and liquidy, has trouble with that.
9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?
No antbiotics so far, but we did isolate her from the others, in her own seperate box wirg food and water.
10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet?
We cannot afford a vet, have to try and help from home. Im told that giving her fresh natural antibiotic herbs can help so we intend to do that if we can get any.
12) Describe the housing/bedding in use.
Our brooder concists of a smalll horse trough with a wooden mesh top to open and close.
