Good Evening everyone!
So I have been incubating 12 Ancona Duck eggs. Monday was supposedly day 28 or Hatch day. Much to my disappointment nothing happened. I went to work on Tuesday and still nothing, not even a pip. I came home early (sick) and a little after I got home I got my first pip. By the end of the day before I was ready to take some Nyquil and go to bed we had 5 pips. This morning when I woke up I came up to check on them and I had a zipper. Around 3:30-4 pm this afternoon I had my first duckling breaking free. I quickly set up my phone on video and got to video the final push. I will post the video then. Now (5:42pm) I have another one starting to break through.
Its really funny how the order of things is coming along. The first duckling to come out was one of the last to pip from last night and the last to zip this morning. The First one to pip yesterday is now the second one to start emerging. This is so crazy and I'm so happy with myself for actually be able to do something like this.
Now that I know I can do this, I will eventually try to hatch some eggs from my own flock of Black Swedish ducks.
My husband and I even talked about possibly raising quail in the future.
This has definitely been a great experience for me, I have enjoyed it so much!
Thanks for reading!
Ok so it wont let me post the video. But here's a picture instead

OK guys, we have 7 total that hatched from 12 eggs. I feel that this was an amazing hatch rate for shipped eggs and being my first time ever incubating eggs. The last two we did have to assist, and we would have had 8 if the one didn't get knocked over and his open hole put facing down. I didn't notice it before I left for work, but my husband did later when he got home but by then it was too late and that duckling suffocated. I am a little sad about that and wish I would have paid closer attention to it. But hey, it is a lesson learned, so now I know.
Thanks for following along with me on this amazing journey!
