I got 2 new hens this weekend and they are super agitated/scared. I had them in a dog crate to keep them separated from my other ducks. When I went to put my ducks away they freaked out. They were quaking and flapping around and sticking there heads out of the dog crate trying to get out. I feel awful for them. I put them in a cat carrier and into the coop for the night. What can I do to help them calm down and feel safe. I don't think they ate any food today.

It takes for them time to acclimate. What breed and how old are they? I adopted a lone Buff Orpington duck last year brought her home set up a dog X pen so she could be with everyone but not get picked on it took 2 days she was out with the flock and being it was one I figured it would take longer so be patient. I did put her into a dog crate over night so she could be in with the flock. Your doing everything right. I would figure out something other than the crate for during the day though. I tell ya dog X pens are awesome for this. They can be used for so many things with our birds.
If Calls I would def place them where they can't fly away until they are feeling at home.

They're call ducks and roughly 2 months old, the dog crate is the only way to acclimate them with the rest of my flock well still being some what separate
