I have 7 growing pullets - at least 3 of which are displaying the "bowing" behaviour of laying chooks ..... I found a stash of pullet eggs in the coop - 3 different colours - so know they have started.
Problem ... I am finding the odd pullet egg in the nesting boxes, sometimes with a peck, and none in the yard .... I think I have one or more egg eaters. How do I know which is the culprit?? How do I solve the problem?
Thanks!

There is a type of nest box that rolls the egg away from the chicken's reach after she lays. I think it is called 'roll away nest box'.

Here is a BYC forum search

You could put 'bumper bits' on the beak(s). Here is a post about bumper bits I put up awhile ago:

Hang around the nest box to see if you can find the perpetrator ---gather eggs frequently. See who has egg-on-her-beak. I have one that pecked her room-mates and did some egg eating, and I did notice egg on her beak or feathers.....so unless she was an innocent bystander....she was guilty. (Lily the one modeling the Bumpa Bits) Make sure that the shells are very strong, and they have plenty of feed so they don't feel like their eggs are their survival.

good luck
