We are new to chickens (I raised goats for over 10 years) and the cute little ladies arrived two days ago (April 7, 2009).
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Our ladies number an even half-dozen.

We love the outdoors, gardening (both flowers and vegies) and swimming.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I use "we" because this is a family project, but mostly for our eight year old son. Mom, Lisa, was raised on a farm and has spent lots of years with animals but never chickens...
Dad, Rick, grew up in a town but the neighbors had chickens...
Son, Mason, loves the wild turkeys that come to visit and wanted to raise some chickens for REAL eggs.
We have two dogs... an English Setter and a Pembroke Welsh Corgi.
I am a SAHM and we cyberschool. Dh is an accountant. Son is a wonderful kid and a science kinda guy.
I look forward to learning alot here... I am sure that Mason will want to post lots of questions after we search the boards for answers...
