New Feeder Concern.....

My 13 hens were wasting loads of food so I switched from the old standard gravity feeder to this feeder.... My hens don't appear to be eating from it. I really think they are eating spilled grain off the coop floor... It's been a week since I put it in their coop & I've yet to see a hen eat out of it...

My guess is they may not realize what it is. I would take a couple of them and put their beaks in it like you do with a chick to teach them. Once one or two start eating the rest will catch on. If not do that with all of them.

Did you show them how it works? It’s not obvious.

Thanks for that! I'll give it a try.... I just thought they'd naturally check it out but that doesn't seem the case... These gals are very wary of any change in their day to day routine...

The only change my girls liked is going outside. Otherwise, they object vociferously!
