We got our feeders done a few weeks ago. I absolutely love them! Less waste, and I cap them each night so that rodents can’t get to it. I can’t believe we didn’t do this sooner.

After standing in the hardware store, trying to figure cost, and how to end up with a “cap”-able end, I’ll share this:
Sewer pipe is way cheaper than Schedule 40. I mean, obviously, this doesn’t have to be rated for it’s intended purpose. So, that helped. But also keep in mind, the fittings for sewer are not going to work on Sch 40. Different thicknesses.
That said, we used a 4ft length, a street 90, then a street 45. Two caps, one for each end. It’s the simplest and cheapest way.

Lesson learned, cap the bottom before filling!! Lol. I poured feed into it before I had capped it, and so much for having less waste!

The girls took to it like it had always been there, after 5 minutes of snubbing their beaks at them.
Now they’ve learned, and they follow me over there and watch me uncap them each morning.
