We have had our Silver Laced Wyandotte for about 1.5 months. She is 7.5 months. In practicing for 4H with her, my daughter noticed that her wing feathers have been cut. It certainly eaplains why she lands so heavily on her feet when jumping down from the perch! Always new her feathers looked kind of different there but didn't have another Wyandotte to compare to.

So my question - will they every grow out or not until she molts next year? And can she still be shown in 4H?

They will grow back in when she molts. If you want them to come in sooner just pull with a pair of pliers. I don't recommend pulling them all out in one day. Just pull a few out every day so it doesn't get quite as sore. When's the 4-H show?

There is a show in January or February. It would be my daughter's first show so I'm not worried about winning - just experience. Would she even be allowed to show her?

For 4-H I'm pretty sure she can be shown, but your leader should know the answer to that.
