Hi BYC, I am new to chickens. I bought an incubator and thought I would try a few eggs from my husband's grandmother and see what happened. I ended up with 38 eggs of different breeds! I had two I know where bad, but I'll know by this weekend how many made it! I look forward to reading and sharing here!

Update: I had my days counted incorrectly and my hatch date was yesterday. I was getting worried Sunday when nothing was happening, but found a thread here that let me know I was off. What a difference a day makes! I have 7 chicks and more coming!

I had 17 total hatch and all are doing well but one. It's blind and I'm hand feeding it. I was slow figuring it out though, so it's much smaller and behind the others. He/she is doing much better and has become very much a pet. One of the larger chicks that I suspect is an Ameraucana rooster has taken to protecting the little one if the others pick on it. We'll see how this this turns out!
