hi everyone,
I repurposed an old outbuilding as a chicken coop this summer. It was originally a mews (to house hawks) from the previous owner, and then a dog kennel for years (another owner) and now I have made it a coop! We purchased day-old chickens in Sept, so they are about 5mo old. 3 sussex, 3 golden laced wyandotte, and 6 easter eggers, and one of the eggers is a rooster! that was not intended! but he is a very good, very friendly rooster, so we changed his name from Ella to Elliott and all's well.
We live in the far western part of Maryland, in the Appalachians where we actually have winter right now!
I posted on the Injury forum about one of the sussex who has bent toes that seem to have gotten worse.
I've read a lot of posts as well and look forward to actually interacting now!
Thanks
Elaine
