Howdy!
Just registered and saw the suggested template for new members so figured I'd play :)


(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
No, raised chickens on the farm growing up, but it's been 20 years. Our new flock arrives in 2 weeks.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

Will be 5 + 2 Running Ducks

(3) What breeds do you have?

Americaunas.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

Productive use of the land, positive hobby, healthy eggs.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

Sports, Cars, Fishing/Hunting

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

Right now we're down to just the German Shepard, and soon the chickens and ducks, but have raised horses, cows, goats, geese, doves, dogs, cats, fish, bred sea horses, etc etc etc.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?

Google search when looking for coop ideas!

Thanks! we're having fun with it so far. I'm not entirely sure where we will go with this flock so the coop is designed big enough to home nearly triple what we actually have planned in case we decide to grow it. Quail and Turkeys also interest me but I know without doubt the Turkeys I'd be doing separately and would start this whole process over again lol. This project should quench my need for a little while...

That's exactly my plan actually. I did use some chicken wire along the base to trench out digging rodents and weasels, etc. but it's so hard to get it pulled nice and tight that I'm going to use the 1/2" cloth for all of the coop fencing. thanks for the link!
