(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I'm newish... my Grandma had chickens, I thought it would good to have some, too!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
25 buff Orpingtons, 2 cockerels and 23 pullets. I have 12+ lavender Orpington eggs on the way, and a Brinsea incubator that I hope gets here first!
(3) What breeds do you have?
Orpingtons! Love'em, but I do get tempted by some of the crazier looking breeds!
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
I came across the site during my pre-chicken research. I lurked here for a while, lots of good answers for new chicken owners!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I have 7 children, and one on the way, and we homeschool- throw in all the extracurricular activities, chores and such and there's not much time for hobbies! Do chickens count as a hobby? (they are too much fun to be a chore!) Reading, internet surfing, etc...
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
See above! We also have approximately 5 cats, we are on a rural dirt road that people love to dump their unwanted animals on. So far none with a taste for chicken! We are currently dogless, but I'd like to get another Boykin Spaniel someday, does anyone here know if they get along with chickens? I also want a miniature cow, so far hubby is resistant, we'll see!
