Hello! I just wanted to give you all a quick update. We received our chickens Wednesday night. We got home around 10 PM with our 6 Araucanas and placed them in the hen house. Thursday morning, we literally woke up with the chickens. OK, they were up when we went outside at 5:30 but were pretty calm. We opened the pop door and waited for them to come out. We waited and waited. About 10 minutes later the first chicken poked her head out and a few minutes later started to come down the ramp. Within 5 minutes, all 6 were out looking for food.
I checked the nest boxes to see if they had started to make their nests and one was already made in the larger of the two boxes. We didnt expect any eggs the first day or so, so it was a big surprise when we when to check on them later in the afternoon to see that each had laid an egg!
Today, our oldest son called my when I was on the way home to let me know that we had 3 more eggs waiting!
