Hello! Just bought an acre in central Texas and hoping to get an egg business up and running soon.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I first had a flock a few years ago and recently restarted one at my new home.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
10 hens
(3) What breeds do you have?
2 Sapphire Gems, 1 Gold Laced Wyndotte, 2 Olive Eggers, 3 Easter Eggers, 1 Americana, 1 Isa Brown
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Just watching them is my favorite part. I love making a cup of coffee first thing in the morning and spending time with them in the run. I also will never fail to be amazed by nature's miracle of eggs!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I do a lot of hiking and writing. I hope to finish my novel someday!
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Aside from the chickens, I live with my dog Hank, two cats named Magpie and Ernie, two goats named Pickles and Charlie...oh, and my boyfriend Matt
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
Back in the day I used to use the FB group as a resource. I don't really use FB anymore, so I moved on over here!
