New Guy From Florida

Been lurking for a few days, overwelmed with all the info here on chickens. I am hoping to start building a coop in the next few weeks so that I can get a few chicks to raise with my daughter. I am in Pinellas County Fl, and limited to 4 hens which is good for me since it will be more of a fun time hobby than a food source. I am sure many questions will follow but from what I have read so far, sand is the way to go which is fine with me since the beach is 1/4 mile from me.
