Hey everyone, my name is Rob and due to my wife's desires we are getting ready to receive our first batch of chickens in a few weeks. Her primary concern is to just get some for eggs, but there is no telling what all she has in mind.

She did grow up on a fairly large chicken farm in Smith Co. so she knows a bit about raising the birds (or so she says heh).

I found the website the other night and have been getting as much info as can. I just started building the coop yesterday if you would want I can try to post up a newbies attempt at a coop.

Hello -
Welcome

I am a newbie too - I built my coop from plans - an A-frame coop - I am a quilter not a builder and it looks just like the picture so I am pleased with my coop. It is for 3-4 large birds.

Week two we learned the hard way about shock - had to nurse the babies out of it - this site was very helpful. Saved my chicks from my dogs mauling.

We have golden laced wyandottes. 2 hens about 3 weeks old now.

We ordered more chickens and I am building a second coop for them. Don't want my girls crowded.

Mostly posting on raising chicks page and managing flock.

Have a good day
Post pics of your coop.
