Hello Everyone
my name is Frank and I live in Southern California.
I am interested in getting a few chickens for eggs and hobby. I will be starting this along with my 5 year old daughter Ariana.
We look forward to learning quite a bit from the postings and such.

1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes we are completely new to chickens.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We plan on getting 3.

(3) What breeds do you have?
None

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Collecting the eggs and having a hobby we can do together.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Fishing, cooking, target shooting, reading, listening to podcasts about hunting, cooking, self improvement.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. I am 47 and live in Southern California with my wife Barbara and daughters Cynthina (17) and Ariana (5). I'm a machinist and work in Orange County. Barbara is a retail manager working in Corona. I enjoy the outdoors and spending time with my family and extended family. My parents and siblings are very close to each other.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

I found BYC through a friend of mine I used to coach while she was in high school. She began raising chickens a few years ago and I began to pick her brain for information and suggested the BYC facebook page and website. I'm excited to start learning.

Welcome to BYC.
:yesss: We are glad you joined this flock!
Jump right in and make yourself at home.
There is mandatory quarantine in place right now for certain areas of southern California so you may have trouble finding birds right now.

This video will help you learn how to navigate this site (how to upload photos too):

BYC has an APP!

Texas Kiki:
Yes I was made aware of this by a friend of mine. We currently live in San Bernardino County and will be moving to Los Angeles County in July. The home we are moving to will be where we will start this off. I hope to find plans for a coop I like and build it over the summer, then move on to the additional items we need before getting the flock together. Probably looking at between late fall and next spring.
