Great to be here! So a little about myself...
I just started a flock of 7 Sapphire Gems (was 8 but the dog thought they were nuggets; lesson learned). They're 2 weeks old and getting bigger everyday! The kids love them...with the exception of having to do the chores that go along with them, lol.
Anyways, this will be my very first flock. I have no experience with livestock other than common household pets.
I found this forum when I searched building a chicken coop. I started building one about a week ago and it's roughly 80% complete. Being so close to done with it, I figured now would be a great time to join this community.
I have about 1/2 an acre of land and luckily I'm able to raise them. Unfortunately I can't have roosters due to zoning.
Anyways, I'm sure you'll see more of me. Here's my coop in the making...it's 4x6. I still have plenty left to do, but I'm excited I got this far. I'm no carpenter...I'm a boat driver by trade (retired military) that's now a pastry chef, ha.
