Hi everyone: My only chick out of 7 eggs hatched yesterday (shipment of eggs frozen by postal service). It seems quite strong but has some physical problems (which I blame on the hatching eggs being frozen) it's eye on one side is not formed properly it is blind on that side, and it's beak doesn't line up. I understand it has some challenges and may not survive, but as I said seems strong and lively, but my problem is I can't get it to eat, and it only drinks when I dip it's beak in water. Any suggestion for me?

Wow, I have a chick exactly like that! I've got pics in emergency forum, do you still have yours?

Hello all...I forgot about this post, it seems like such a long time ago! I can't tell you how wonderful this little guy was. We called him Rocky (because he looked so beat up). I figured out how to get him to eat (just made mash with the chick starter) he loved it...but so did all the other chicks so we had a system going were I would let the chicks out of the coop, and I would go into the run and Rocky would follow and I would just shut the door so it was just him. He didn't even behave like a chicken, honest to God he was like a dog, he would run to the gate with the dogs when I came home from work, he would run across the yard to meet me, when we sat outside he would come and lie by my feet, he'd even rest his cute little chin on my foot just like a dog, he liked to be close, he'd come running when he saw you...what a sweet little babe. But sadly he is no longer with us, he died in August of fly-strike (something that I didn't know about). It is a hard way to learn. Poor Rocky RIP

Mine died today, I had to cull it because it wasn't feeding - it was just pretending to, but empty crop told me otherwise :(
I tried feeding it to no avail for 24 hours.

I am so sorry. So sad. even though your chick had a short life, I bet you made it as comfortable as possible. There is nothing we can do but try.
