I am from southeastern CT - hubby and I have a little farm on 19 acres with an assortment of black sex link and mixed breed white hens used for eggs and debugging the yard and one Golden Comet (my favorite breed... my first Golden Comet chicken was pretty tame and her name was "Raw Chicken" as that is what her clucking sounded like she was saying...) plus a pair of Toulouse geese and Penciled Indian Runner ducks/drakes, two Pekin drakes and a alleged "Rouen" duck who looks more like a Mallard hen...

One of my white hens went broody about a month ago so she has a clutch of Indian Runner eggs under her that I have been candling - of 8 eggs six are still viable with the ducklings moving inside the eggs - I removed the "dead" egg and the infertile one today... two look very close, one looks not far behind and the others are a few weeks behind those... momma hen seems to be doing a good job turning and taking care of the eggs and the waiting is killing me to see if we get anything to hatch.

The first "Raw Chicken" has passed on but my one Golden Comet is "Raw Chicken II" and my user name is in honor of them both.

Looking forward to reading about everyone's chickens, ducks, geese and other fowl!

You have a nice selection of poultry with the chickens, ducks and geese. I hope your hatch goes well, once they hatch please share some photos of the new little ones if you would like.

If you have any questions, there are a lot of friendly and helpful members here.

Nice to have you join us!

Thank you for the welcome!

Eggs were pipped internally for two days and today one broke the shell... the second I assisted just to get it from his/her world to ours. They are peeping and working their way out!

While momma chicken has done her job, I moved these two eggs in transition to the incubator as the remaining two eggs under momma chicken still have some more growing to do. and She did not mind as she is used to me candling and checking things. As momma chicken is not as humid as the incubator, the incubator seems to be doing its job of keeping things a bit more humid than under momma chicken and the babies are moving and progressing with hatching four hours into the move.

Now, praying they finish the rest of their hatching journey and we start imprinting.
