New here, just poking around

Hi there. I just signed up for the forums, but I have done a lot of reading off and on the past couple years. I'm hoping to get some chickens this spring, if I get the coop built. I've looked into a lot of different breeds, and there are several that I live. But in all honesty, I have no clue what breeds I want, or if I want a mix. I'm open to suggestions. which board should I post on for that? I'm unsure.

! Great to have you here! Personally, I like the mixed flock I have - 11 different breeds with different personalities and different colored eggs. You can read what others think of various breeds on the link below. Good luck to you!!

I don't think I'll ever show, so I'll probably end up with mixed breed chickens when I start raising my own chicks. I've read all kinds of opinions on what other people thinks about the different breeds. The problem I am running into is the traits I need are not lining up with the birds I like. I feel like I'm going to have to combine the traits I need with the looks I like, Franken-chick?
