Your silkies are gorgeous & what a sweet & docile breed. Every year in Jan., it's fun to look over the chicken breeds page in case there's something to add to my flock of friendly & less aggressive docile types that lay well. https://www.backyardchickens.com/reviews/
My original 90 chickens years back were excellent layers & aggressive types, but not as fun for me to make friends with. Have done well with this dozen
group of Ameraucanas (mine are friendly/gentle & are dependable layers in the hotter months), Black Australorps (mine (but maybe not everyone's) are more bossy & stand-offish than the Ameraucanas, but extra good at laying in the colder months), just had an Ameraucana hatch some chicks & giving a few Speckled Sussex chicks a try this week to see if they are sweet & will lay as well as the Australorps in the winter. Maybe next year, I'll order some Swedish Flower Hen eggs & see what they're like; everything that I read about them has sparked interest in a breeding project. Have fun shopping for a possible next breed to add. Best wishes.
As you have already received some great responses, not much left for me to say except that I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.
