I have had backyard chickens for 4 years now, and just got new chicks yesterday, 4 more for myself and 6 for a family member. What’s the best way to mark them for identification to tell them apart?

I personally have no experience with this, but they have colored leg band markers at most feed stores. Like I said, I have not personally tried them but I know it is important to watch them as they grow and make sure they are not getting tight around their legs. It will also be necessary to upgrade the sized based on the growth of the chicks. Also, make sure that the chicks are not pecking them.

Zip ties work. Just leave them a bit loose and completely cut off the tail. After they go home, remove them.
