Hello, My name is Deborah. Thank you for the add.
I actually joined in June but hadn't had the chance to introduce myself. I started with 9 chicks about a week old back in May. This is my first at raising from chicks. Years ago I had a small flock that I was given as older hens. I did lose the youngest chick about 2 weeks in. I then lost one in June to a predator. My hens (and 1 unexpected Rooster) are just about ready to start laying their first eggs. I had free ranged till I lost one then they were in the run for a few weeks till they settled. They are now back to free range. This week I have them locked in the run till they start laying, so they lay in the coops nest boxes. They have too much room to roam and way to many spots to lay without me finding the nest.
