Hi! We are new here. Our 12 year old daughter hatched chicks in an incubator in October. We borrowed the incubator from a friend and she gave us some of her eggs to hatch.
They are all mixed/questionable breeds. We have 11 almost 6 week old chicks. We have no idea which are pullets or cockerels. We live in the a small town and can only keep 6. So we want to be sure we don’t give away pullets instead of cockerels.

Hi, congrats to your daughter on the hatch! Once the chicks are around 6 weeks of age, you can share close up, individual photos of them and get some help with the gender id.

If they are bantams you may be able to tell at 6 to 7 weeks (except silkie mixes) but standard cockerels may take longer (8 to 12 weeks) to show male traits.
