Hello! I've been doing chickens, ducks and other critters on and off for 20 years :) I'm new to the forum though!

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Oof, first was in highschool. Then again as an adult with mt own kids.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? Right now, four. I've downsized from about 25.

(3) What breeds do you have? Marans and light brahma

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? Fresh eggs daily and their sweet temperaments. But control for my garden

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Quilting, traveling, horseback riding, creating lasting family memories, gardening and baking.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. We have a "micro-mini-farm" in a growing community. We are preparing to move, so uprooting and rehoming most of our livestock, and will be starting over once we get resettled (it is going to be a long, drawn out process with suburban homes being built around us currently.... kinda heartbreaking but also at least it's homes for people). I absolutely adore my brahma and marans, but ducks are very messy and don't fit into the urban setting in my experience lol! We have several rescued animals- I mean, lost aninals that we have found in the dehydrated and emaciated type of rescued (rescues are full and nobody would claim said critters.) I LOVE creating through quilts and gardens and bird watching with my kids.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

Several years haha!!! I think I og found through a chicken magazine.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

Nice introduction! Wonderful you rescue animals, you have a heart of gold. 💛

Make yourself at home here and welcome to our community!
Thank you!! I've been called a "bleeding heart" before. I've taken on so much I've neglected myself the last few years and am taking a step back.

Nice to meet you, and I appreciate it!

:highfive:

I am the same way, I rescue anything that is in distress, I just can't turn my back on any living thing. 😊
