Hi there
Just bought some land in rural northern California, got myself some jersey giant chickens for eggs. There's 4 of them at 1 year old, they were free range and a little skittish but I've been spending time with them and giving them meal worms, they seem to be getting used to me
I'm planning on getting some chicks in about a month to add to the flock, and as soon as I get everyone trained to come to my call, I'm going to move them to another area to free range during the day in a fenced yard. Then I'm going to start meat chickens in the pen they're in currently.
So I'm pretty excited, my girls eat my pulled weeds from the garden and the eggs are very tasty.
Next year were planning on starting dairy goats, which is really where I want to be in this whole homesteading thing. And eventually add some bees but that's down the line
