I brought a lovable 4 month old cockerel home to be a house chicken 4 days ago.
He preens for a half hour at a time and makes a pile of dander.
I took a cat flee comb to him and got gander but couldn't find anything moving.
Is it possible that a chicken doesn't have lice on them?

Part the feathers down to the skin around vent, neck and under wings.....
..........look for lice, easy to see and mites, not so easy to see.

Lice eggs are hard to miss clumped around the base of feathers....I think I would have done this before bringing him into the house.

I couldn't find a thing on him. He is very clean and acts just like the cleanest cat I ever had. She would jump and nibble like something was biting her but I think it was just nerves because she was such a clean nut.
