Hi!

I'm Michelle and a first-time chicken mama. I recently got 4 hens and 2 guineas. They are about 14-15 weeks old. I didn't want to raise chicks. Not sure about the future. My hens are a Speckled Sussex, Beilefelder, Rhode Island Red and a Wellsummer. Here are pictures of my girls. Not sure yet if the guineas are both female or a male and female. I got them a few days ago, so they are staying in the coop for a couple weeks before I let them free-range.

I found this site by doing a web search on chickens and cleaning out their pen. I'm sure I will be back with questions or search for answers on questions during my journey.

Welcome to BYC!! Beautiful flock!

Welcome to the flock! as far as guinea go gender wise listen for the way the sound. if it sounds like "buck-wheat" its female; if it sounds like "kikikiki" then its male (though females can do the same sound as males but males can not make the same sound as females) Edit: guinea are also very butch birds and may (not always) bully other animals. I had one Guinea hen that bullied my hens because she was sweet on my old red rooster and he didn't want anything to do with her
