New, in middle TN

Hi there. I am thinking about getting back into having some backyard chickens! I had a few about 7 years ago, but got out of it when my son was born.

Now that he's old enough to get interested in them, he's been king if we could get some chickens for our coop.

I'd like to keep about 6-12 standard size chickens, but haven't decided on breeds yet.
My son wants some green eggs for sure, so we'll need a few of those hens

I'm won ring where to find healthy stock, how to find a reputable breeder....

I am in West Tennessee and had a very hard time finding what I wanted around here.... There is a middle tennessee thread on the where are you section. Make sure you post there as they are likely to know someone or have some you can get.
