I live in a town in SW Florida that has a "no chickens" law. It's quite sad and frustrating! However, I did discover that anything covered by the FWC is fine as long as I follow those regulations. (This means, a few chickens is illegal, but I can have any number of quail or other gamebird as long as I purchase a license IF I own more than 50 or wish to sell anything.) So, quail it is! I'm planning on starting with a quad (3 females and 1 male) and, over a few months time, increasing that to include one or two more quads. I am mainly interested in raising them for eggs, but maybe will consider the meat aspects in the future.

Anyone else down here own quail for pets/eggs?

Welcome to BYC! I don't have quail, but there is a Quail section on the forums at: Forums> Other Backyard Poultry> Quail.

Glad you joined!

Thank you for the welcome! And, I've been lurking for a couple weeks on the quail board already. Great info there! It's all so exciting.
