Hello all, I'm new to chickens, I just got 6 week old Rhode island reds and barred rock.
We're going tomorrow to pick up 2week old blrw chicks....I'm assuming they'll need a heat light? Any advice on chicks this age?feed the same as my others? (Medicated grow)

I should add that it's mid 70s during the day here. We are buying 4-6 chicks, so would a huddle box be adequate for night-time?

70's would be too cool for 2 week old chicks - your older chicks are probably fully feathered out and could acclimate to that daytime temp. Usually a two week old chick would have temps. of 90 degrees where the heat lamp hits the brooder floor at one side = leaving the other side free - so chicks can determine what is comfortable for them. If chicks lie far apart they are too warm. If they pile up - they are too cold.

Hi and welcome to BYC - you have some great advice already so I'll just say hello!

All the best
