I've been a lurker for about a year and finally decided to join. This group has saved me from tearing out my hair and has answered many of my most perplexing issues. Thanks!:D. My avatar is one of my chicks. Her name is Poppy and is a silver laced wyandotte. I have 3 silvers, 4 buff Orpingtons, 2 Rhode Island reds, 2golden sexlinks and one Easter egger. Glad to finally be a member!

Question, we live in the NW, and our run is not covered. What should we use for material on the bottom of the run? It is dirt now, and directly under a very large cherry tree, so the ground will stay wet until middle of summer. Any thoughts or suggestions?

We use hogfuel up here in the really wet western corner of WA. I was skeptical about it but it works great - pretty cheap - I think we paid $13 for a yard (pick-up truck bed). If you are not netting or covering your run you may have hawk or eagle issues if your tree is large enough for them to land on. Good luck with your birds! We have a thread over in the "where am I - where are you section" of the forum - come join us!
