Hello everyone! Backyard chicken has been great- but I have been going to bed too late because I start reading all the posts! If anyone is in my area- Do
1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am new to chickens- although my father was a crop farmer and grew up with chickens, cows etc we never had farm animals. We just got our chickens this spring.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We have 31 chicks! We started with 10, 5 australorps and 3 golden comets and 2 'barnyard' breed. Then went to a poultry auction and bought 15 "araucana" chickens which I am almost positive they are more like an easter egg hybrid- then family bought us 6 bantam chickens- I wanted silkies but it is the thought that counts
(3) What breeds do you have?
see above
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Internet search when reading about chickens
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? (6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I am married with two beautiful children age 3 and 1 who love the chicks! The chicks actually run up to them- but scurry from me the one feeds and cleans up after them. I work as a physical therapist. I decided I needed a hobby which is how I got into chickens- now I just wish it was more social. My husband has honey bees and there is a local club that meets monthly- I hope to find something like that in the area
Wish this had spell check- please forgive any butchering of the english language
