(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
My addiction started around 2 years ago.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
23, plus three babies on the way and 10 eggs in the incubator
(3) What breeds do you have?
1 Leghorn
1 Salmon Faverolle
1 Barnavelder
1 Naked Neck Turken
2 Speckled Sussex
2 Copper Marans
2 Easter Eggers
2 Silkies
1 Hamburg
2 Polish
2 Frizzled Cochin
1 Mille Fleur D'Uccle
5 Araucanas
3 additional Araucanas on the way
10 Blue laced Red Wyandotte eggs in the incubator
Now that I have had a chance to own a bunch of different breeds, my plan is to focus on Araucanas and keep a few leghorns for egg production in the upcoming years.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Probably googling symptoms and treatments since vets who accept chickens in this area are few and far between. Joined about a year ago but never really posted, just scrolled through for the awesome advice on here.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Reading, horses, my family
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I could probably be a stay-at-home mom, but we have a few special needs pets that run up the vet bills. Three dogs (two with severe allergies, one of which has thyroid issues as well), five cats (one with severe allergy issues and another with anxiety issues), a blind pony, a couple of rabbits, and the chickens. Whatever, they're all worth it!
