I hatched these babies out late last month.. All that made it out of the egg are doing great. My big question is are they TOO fat? Like seriously these lil guys are hefty chonky lil ugly birds and I LOVE them. Way friendlier than my chickens but they waddle they are so round. Is this normal?

Mine are quite a bit round. It would help if you were to post a photo.
I’ll post a photo of mine in the morning, they are all 7 weeks old and fully grown.
Yes, they are very fat looking, but also super fast.

On a more seriously note, you might be giving them too many treats, but it’s impossible to tell without a photo. About how many weeks old are they? They should look like normal coturnix quail but bigger.

It is so cute how fat they are though 🤣
Watching them bounce about and be 10x more athletic and crazy than they look makes me so happy.
I don’t know about your quail, but I personally think mine are super cute. They bounce around like exploding popcorn kernels and speed about like little furry cannon balls.
Unlike most chickens, quail tend to stay extremely cute and tiny forever. I sometimes refer to mine as ‘Goofy little meatballs’.

What are you feeding them? They are jumbos so they will be fat, but you should feel their keels to see if they are actually overweight.

You probably want to separate the sick one both so she can recover and in case she's contagious. You don't want your others to get sick from her.

It's the one that had the prolapse and was partially egg bound.
That isn't contagious.
