Hello,
I am a new member and proud keeper of 14 chicken. I have 4 that are about 1 year old and 8 six month old and 2- 8 week old. I have a wide variety of breeds. One Cinnamon Queen, 1 specked sussex, 1 amberlink, 1 sapphire gem, 2 salmon faverolle, 1 black jersey giant, 1 white crested black polish, 2 golden laced cochin, 1 silver laced cochin, 1 oliver egger and 2 baby buff silkies. I have really enjoyed taking care of them. I have, like I'm sure many of you, have had some challenges. My recent one is that I found my oliver egger laying on the ground not being able to move. I have brought her in and placed her in a box and she is eating and drinking but not being able to get up. She was always kind of squatty not standing upright all the time but just thought she was mello. My concern is that about 2 weeks ago I had another chicken a polish that I found lying in their crate not moving and she was in the same state accept she couldn't move at all. I thought that maybe she was trampled in the crate with the other 8 chickens and they broke her back but now I'm thinking what if its some sort of disease spreading through the flock. I know so many of you are experienced chicken owners and might have some insight. I don't know whether to let her heal separate in the box or take her to the vet. Any input would be great appreciated
