Our chicken coop is inside our horse barn, too! It makes it so convenient when it comes to doing chores and I can compost the horse manure and chicken poo together!

I also use the same bedding in the stalls and coop - Nature's Choice Pellet bedding. We have other coops and runs that we use as isolation areas for newcomers but the barn coop is huge, convenient and very well built. I'd be hard-pressed to match it. All that to say, I'm a fan of the idea and I think you're on the right track! Plus, barn coops make it easy to expand!

welcome!! Im a newbie too, been on BYC for about a week and its very addicting. I got the book "Chick Days" and it is a very detailed day by day of raising your chicks until they are ready to lay, then it becomes more generalized. I have skimmed thru others but found that to be the best one for me. Hope that helps!!
