Thank you all for this group! Last year moved out into the country to begin more of a homestead lifestyle which naturally is anchored around our desire for chickens. Our family of four here in Ohio is picking up our chicks in the next few weeks. Couple is in the works (building myself, first time this big of a build 8x9). Looking forward to not just the eggs, and chickens but watching my kids grow and work at taking care of them.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? We will have ten to start, coop build for 15
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? It will be watching my kids take pride in the work it will take to help me build the coop and raise the chicks to chickens and then all that comes with it.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? DIY and fitness
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. family of five including our dog Po, cardigan corgi so we are going to train her to help heard the chickens. I am a computer system consultant for hospitals around the country though my degree is in exercise science biomechanics, blahblah lol. So this lifestyle is very much a joy as I like to work with the hands, get dirty and outdoors and get away from the computer.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
Found BYC because I’m ignorant to chickens and coops for the most part and decided to join when we actually put in the order for chicks and the coop started so I could actually contribute something to the community.
