Hi everyone, I am new to BYC. I thought I would get on here, as my wife and I have just committed to 3 turkeys and 6 chickens! We are excited, and have a lot of support through friends, and our neighbors, but I thought I'd reach out here as well.
We went in on a catalog order with our neighbors, and were able to pick from a variety of chickens. We are getting 2 Lakenvelders, 2 Sumatran, and 2 Spanish. They should be here next week. We have already picked up the turkeys, they are American bronze. We have had them for about 10 days, and I think they may have doubled in size!
I do have general questions about the coop. We have a coop large enough for 9 birds, but maybe not 6 hens and 3 turkeys. I have been considering building something else for the turkeys, when they get too large for the chicken coop. Any thoughts or advice is appreciated!

Regards,
Dustin

Dustin - turkeys generally are kept apart from chickens as chickens can carry Black Head disease which is very bad for Turkeys. That's about my sum of my turkey knowledge. For people who know far more than I, go to the Other Backyard Poultry forum above. You will find threads for turkeys, ducks, geese, guineas etc. The turkey will should be able to answer your questions.

Welcome to the BYC flock, glad you joined us.
