Hi there! My name is Amanda, I live in St Robert Mo and my darling husband has agreed to do all the manual labor to retrofit our shed into a coop for chickens!! We used to get all our farm fresh eggs from my mother in law but she quit keeping chicks 
so its now up to me!! I absolutely love the idea of being more independent from grocery stores, I garden and can my produce as well as shop the farmers market when the price is right. I am a mother of 2 small children, my oldest is four and LOVES chickens, Im taking him with me when its time to pick up our chicks from cackle hatchery. we have decided to raise Buff Orpington because of their dual purpose, we enjoy both egg and meat. I am so excited about raising these chickens and learning more about them. I have already learned so much from this site and the book I bought!
