Hi just found the FB page and I'm so excited! I took over my husbands chickens with very open arms 3 years ago. He had maybe 15 chickens and about 6 Guinea's. I had some of the Bantam hens hatch off some more Rhode Islands, Plymouths, Bantams, Cornishes and Guinea's. I bought some Americana chicks and fell in love with the breed. They are so personable and sweet. I have a 24'x24' chicken house so I thought I would order more Americana's with a rooster. Had to cancell the order due to my husband getting bids to work for a Turkey processing plant. Now I have to build a new house far away from my house to keep our pets in order to keep jobs with the Turkey plant. The idea's for coops here is so exciting.
In addition to my chickens I have 11 cats. We live on a farm so the cats just show up, usually pregnant. It's costly but with spaying and neutering we sometimes keep the kitties to a minimum. The cats act like the chickens are family. I think the cats help keep the hawks from traveling too near my chickens. During this time of the year with our garden growing we scale back on how much time the chickens run free.
I look forward to sharing any info I can and reading what you all have to say!

I hope you have lots of fun with your turkeys. I have thought about getting some wild turkeys to raise!
