I'm Tina...Owner of Elvis. Elvis is my 11 Week Old Plymouth Barred Rock. I'm new to raising chickens though I've raised parakeets most of my life. I wanted fresh eggs so I bought chicks and am building a coop. Backwards I know. Now I have 6 Barred Rocks, (4 were roos even though they were supposed to be pullets...SURPRISE!) 4 Araucanas, 2 RI Reds, 2 Silver Laced Wyandottes and 6 Production Reds for meat. I have "Chicken Newbie Fever". My family calls me the "Crazy Bird Lady" with good reason and I wear that label proudly. I talk to my chickies and they respond back. Elvis was the first roo to crow and that is how we say good morning to one another. Yes, I do have a life outside of chickens. Six children (5 grown one homeschooled), one grand daughter, a dh, 1 dog, 3 parakeets, 12 cats living on 20 acres in North Western Missouri. One could call me the crazy cat lady but only one of those is mine the rest are my dd's.
I'm having way too much fun trying to digest as much information as I possibly can and loving every minute. Oh I garden and make cold process soap as well.
