At this time, I’m just finishing setup of my 8X8 coop and 8x14 run.
I have not added chickens yet because I’ve been working on the coop and run. Soon, though.
I grew up on a farm in central Georgia and we always had chickens. My favorite aspect of having chickens is that they help me relax, they are fun, and of course, the eggs are a great bonus.Besides the chicken addition to my farm, we grow pecans and blueberries as well as a big garden every year.
I’m married with one daughter who works down on the Georgia coast and we have two Border Collies.
i found BYC while searching for a coop style that I wanted. I’ve lurked on the site for about two years reading and taking member inputs on a large variety of topics including coops, runs, predators, feeders, waterers, etc. So now that i’, about done with the coop setup, I thought would join. Here I am.

I didn’t build the coop and run. I can’t take credit for that. I have refurbished a Larger Coop D Villa from David’s Chicken Coops. I moved it to my place about three weeks ago. It wash pressure washed, re-stained and I added hardware cloth, an automatic chicken door, predator apron and other things that’s were neglected. Then I set cap blocks and set the coop and run in place. It’s about ready for the chicks. Just have to decide on watered and feeder and I will be done. I’ve been looking at these coops for a while. A great deal came along and I jumped on it. The owner bought a bigger coop and wanted to move this one.
