New here... So glad to have found this site :) my oldest hen ( maybe 5 months old) who is a Amber link just started laying when we were on vacation.the people watching my 9 hens and one rooster said she thinks her first day laying she laid two eggs because they were checking everyday. Is this possible??? She is laying decent size eggs right from the first egg.. So exciting ..(she has laid two since we have been home)

It's possible if she is on a 23 hour cycle instead of a 25 hour one, but it's also likely that they miscounted as well.
The only time I knew of a hen personally that laid twice in one day was a chicken in my ag class, and the second egg was completely shell-less.
I'm waiting on this year's batch to start laying, it's so exciting!
Congrats!

It is possible, I have a hen that do to how she was fed by the people I rescued her from had delayed laying. She didn't start till she was over a year. When she did finally start she layed two eggs a day for a week but after that she went to her normal one a day. I believe it is a flook when it does happen, so I wouldn't expect her to do it again, possible hormone build up before starting to lay. Glad you are enjoying your new supply of eggs, and welcome to backyard chickens!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. Sometimes a really good layer will lay two eggs on the same day, if their laying cycle happens to be a little under 24 hours. Over the years I've have the occasional Black Sex Link, Red Sex Link, or White Leghorn lay 2 eggs on the same day. Amber Link are generally among the better layers so it could have happened. Please feel free to ask any other questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.

Thank you... How do I put on a profile photo ?

You're welcome. Go to your "my profile" page. Underneath your avatar picture, click on "replace avatar." An "add or upload an image" box will pop up. Click on "browse" and your picture file will be displayed. Click on the pic you want in your avatar, then click on "open" at the bottom of your picture file. The image description will show in your "add or upload an image" box. Then just click on "submit" and your avatar pic will appear in your profile photo. Just in case my instructions are "clear as mud" there is a visual link at https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/how-do-i-add-change-my-avatar showing you how to do it.)
