Hello from the Arkansas River Valley. Longtime admirer of our feathered friends, first-time keeper by chance, when a young Splash Wyandotte rooster was dropped or lost and found his way to my rural home July 2018. He roosted in a 50’ sawtooth oak by night, foraged by day. We put out food for him and got two young hens (Blue Andalusian and Ancona) and a small coop with house and run before cold weather. They have been a delight and graced us almost daily with perfect little eggs through spring and summer 2019. Marilyn, the Ancona, was found dead just steps from the coop, no signs of injury or illness, at Thanksgiving. Judith, the Blue Andalusian, is ill with a worsening malady I first attributed to molting that my vet does not recognize. Chicky, Wyandotte rooster, is fine. I have posted images and description on the disease forum. Nice to be among friends. I’ve visited the site many times before joining today. Chickens are smart, sentient, wonderful birds for those who care to know them. Kind regards...Faith
